August: Launch a New Church Year with Fun Activities

Each August, we launch a new church and school year with several Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge traditional events. But this year, we’re adding new ones! Don’t miss out on these great dates.

Sunday, Aug. 4

  • 10:15-11:15 a.m. – Minister Meet & Greet – Join one of our ministers for a casual get-to-know-you chat, a deep discussion on theology, or any topic you’d like!
  • 2:30-4 p.m. – Interfaith Federation Summer Delegates’ Meeting – This public meeting will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Learn about what’s happening in the Interfaith Federation and how we can participate.

Sunday, Aug. 11

  • 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. – Ingathering Services – We will celebrate the launch of a new church and school year.
  • 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. – Bag Blessing – Join us for a bag blessing! Bring whatever you need to get through the upcoming year and get it blessed – backpack, laptop, work bag, whatever!
  • 10:15-11:15 a.m. – Pancake Breakfast – Come hungry! We’ll be serving up plates of pancakes for donations to fix the air conditioner. ($5/plate suggested)
  • 10:15-11:15a – Pledges for Wedges – See a financial pie chart of our church budget and learn more about it as we approach our pledge drive. Plus hear how our church creates opportunities for everyone’s OASIS.

Sunday, Aug. 18

  • 9 a.m. and 11:20 a.m. – Gospel Service – This annual service will have you on your feet singing along with our Gospel Choir led by Jared Robinson.
  • After both services – Connections Fair – After both services, browse tables highlighting ways to get connected at church. The various committees, teams, book clubs, interest groups – everyone! – will be sharing info.
  • Bring a Friend Sunday – What better day to bring a friend than on a day where they can hear amazing music and learn more about our church? Grab a pal and share the joy of our faith community.
