Halloween Party – Saturday, Oct. 26 – 5-7 p.m. – Families and friends of ALL ages are invited to have some Halloween fun! We’ll have games, treats, crafts and more. Put on your best costumes and join us!

Samhain Ritual – Saturday, Nov. 9 – 7 p.m. (Doors open at 6 p.m.) – The Sixth Source Sharing Circle will hold a Samhain Ritual, and attendees are invited to bring food to share for a potluck meal as well as drums and noise makers. Gather at the Peace Stones. (Will move inside in the event of rain.)


Classes for all ages are held 10:15-11:15 a.m. every Sunday. Children and youth can gather for UU-based lessons and activities. Adults are invited to look for these three options: Faith in Action (social justice activities), Faith in Exploration (learn about Unitarian Universalism) and Faith in Practice (discuss spiritual practices of all kinds).

Every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. + Every Saturday at 5 p.m.

  • Blue Lotus Meditation Center Class – Blue Lotus Meditation Center teaches two sessions per week at UCBR. The Saturday sessions are also hosted on Zoom. Tuesday, Oct. 22

  • Together Baton Rouge UNITY 2024 – 6-8 p.m. – This citywide assembly of congregations and community organizations will be held at the F.G. Clark Activity Center at Southern University. UCBR invites everyone to attend and be “The Church That Shows Up!”

Saturday, Oct. 26

  • Halloween Party – 5-7 p.m. – Folks of ALL ages are invited to dress up in their best, family-friendly costume and gather for fun, games, contests, snacks, TRICKS AND TREATS!

Sunday, Oct. 27

  • MIDDLE HOUR: Signs and Symbols of our Faith – Chalices and Flags – These three sessions (Oct. 13, 20 and 27) will focus on the signs and symbols of Unitarian Universalism. Come to one, two or all three.
  • MIDDLE HOUR: Social Justice-Voting Subteam – Discuss voting concerns and actions that can be taken to improve voting rights. (Also: Dec. 1)
  • OWL for Grades 4-5 – 1-2 p.m./Grades 7-8 – 1-3 p.m. – Only registered students whose parents attended orientation may attend this class.  

Sunday, Nov. 2

  • Hindsight Distorted: Dispelling Misconceptions About Society Prior to 1492 – 10a-Noon – Michael Rusco, law professor at Southern University, will offer this presentation at the Main Library at Goodwood. As we work to continue to grow our understanding of Indigenous history in this country, Professor Rusco will provide historical and legal perspectives to enhance what we think we know.

Sunday, Nov. 3

  • MIDDLE HOUR: Minister Meet & Greet – Sit down with one of our ministers for a casual get-to-know-you chat, a deep discussion on theology, or any topic you’d like!
  • MIDDLE HOUR: Social Justice-Reproductive Justice Subteam – Discuss concerns about reproductive justice and what we can do to improve access for those in need. (Also: Dec. 8)
  • Gen ZUU: Gen Z Young Adults – 1 p.m. – First Sunday of the Month – Join other Gen Z adults for lunch and fellowship.
  • Open Circle Book Club – 7 p.m. – First Sunday of the month – This club meets at church and on Zoom. Upcoming titles and Zoom links are shown in the individual calendar entries for each event.

Tuesday, Nov. 5

  • Black Joy Collective – 6:30 p.m. – First Tuesday of the month – A supportive gathering space for Black members of UCBR. Our discussions provide an opportunity for sharing, learning, understanding, growing and becoming. Contact ucbrblack@gmail.com.

  • Retirement Support Group – 10 a.m. – First Thursday of the month – Most meetings are at La Madeleine on Jefferson Highway.

Tuesday, Nov. 12

  • Congregational Care Team – 6:30 p.m. – Select Tuesdays – The CCT meets at church and via Zoom to provide care to people in the church community who are in crisis.

Sunday, Nov. 17

  • MIDDLE HOUR: Social Justice-Climate Action Subteam – Share concerns and work toward putting our faith into action. All perspectives about climate are welcome – whatever your level of awareness or acceptance.  (Also: Dec. 29)
  • Lunch Bunch – 1 p.m. – Select Sundays – Gather with other UUs after church for lunch at local restaurants. Locations and dates are announced in our weekly emails.
