November brings a new lineup of adult Middle Hour offerings at the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge! Whether you’re interested in social justice, exploring Unitarian Universalism or finding spiritual inspiration in an unlikely place, there’s something for you.
Adult Middle Hour meets every Sunday from 10:15-11:15 a.m., between our two worship services. Three tracks are available this month, and everyone is welcome to participate!
Faith in Action — Room 1: Join the Social Justice Team each Sunday for discussions, presentations and opportunities to engage with issues affecting our community and beyond.
- Nov. 1 — UCBR Action Fair: Explore opportunities to get involved! Visit tables featuring volunteer opportunities and community organizations serving the greater Baton Rouge area.
- Nov. 8 — Intersex Identities and Louisiana Legislation: Capi Landreneau will share information about intersex variations and identities, along with a discussion of the Restoring Biological Truth Act and its impact on Louisiana residents.
- Additional Social Justice Team topics will be announced as the month progresses.
Faith in Exploration — Room 6: These sessions are especially helpful for newcomers interested in learning more about Unitarian Universalism and UCBR, but everyone is welcome!
- Nov. 1 — Minister Meet and Greet: Sit down with one of our ministers for a casual conversation, a deeper discussion of theology or anything else you’d like to talk about. Bring your questions and curiosity!
- Nov. 8, 15 and 22 — Signs and Symbols of Our Faith: This three-part series explores the signs and symbols associated with Unitarian Universalism, from chalices and flags to what it means to be a welcoming or antiracist congregation. Each session offers something different, so feel free to attend one, two or all three!
Faith in Practice — Room 5: Every Sunday in November — Can a beloved comic strip inspire spiritual growth? Absolutely! Join fellow readers for a five-week exploration of Calvin and Hobbes through the practice of sacred reading. Participants will learn techniques that invite deeper reflection and open new ways of understanding ourselves, the characters and the stories on the page. Learn more and register for A Sacred Reading of Calvin and Hobbes.
Middle Hour is a wonderful opportunity to learn something new, connect with others and explore ideas together. Whether you’re a longtime member, a newcomer or simply curious, we hope you’ll join us this November!
