Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank

UCBR members and friends regularly volunteer to sort food at the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, which relies on the help of volunteer teams to feed the hungry in their 11-parish service area. The church also has bins for food donations in the kitchen area. The Food Bank is also a frequent recipient of our shared cash offering on Sunday mornings.

Holy Grill

The Holy Grill is a project of the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge. Volunteers from area organizations prepare a hot meal Monday through Friday and serve it at Cadillac Park. This long-standing project has been a great benefit to both the Cadillac Park neighborhood and to our volunteers. Volunteers from UCBR join other volunteers from area congregations who serve on a rotating schedule to help fulfill the Federation’s mission.

Days for Girls

Days for Girls is an international effort to provide sustainable menstrual care products and education for girls around the world. UCBR’s Days for Girls team meets regularly to sew menstrual products to send overseas to empower girls and women by providing them with dignity, health, and opportunities.

Kids’ Cafe Christmas Gifts

Our church has supported the Kids Cafe Christmas Gift project of the Interfaith Federation for more than twenty years. Each December, the Interfaith Federation collects Christmas wish lists from children in need, and UCBR members enthusiastically fulfill the requests.

Blood Drive

Several times a year, UCBR hosts a blood drive bus from Our Lady of the Lake. Many generous members and friends donate blood on these occasions, which helps to fund the blood bank at OLOL. It ensures that our community has access to life-saving blood supplies.
