Celebrating Our 2025 Shared Offering Partners

At the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge, generosity isn’t just a Sunday practice — it’s one of the many ways we live out our values as a community. Each week, we collect an offering during our worship services, and each month we share those funds equally with an organization doing work that creates justice in our world.

This 50/50 shared offering model is one of the clearest reflections of who we are. It reminds us that every dollar given strengthens not just our congregational life, but also the broader community we are part of. We prioritize organizations that are working toward justice and peace, with an emphasis on local projects.

As we close out 2025, we look back with gratitude at the 12 organizations our congregation supported through the year. Each one represents a facet of the work our faith calls us to do: welcoming the stranger, uplifting marginalized communities, protecting the environment, advocating for human dignity and investing in a more equitable world.

Our 2025 recipients were:

  1. January – LORI: Louisiana Organization for Refugees and Immigrants
  2. February – BLUU: Black Lives of Unitarian Universalists
  3. March – P.R.E.A.C.H.: Presenting Resources Effectively Applying Christ-like Humbleness
  4. April – Louisiana Bucket Brigade
  5. May – Louisiana Trans Advocates
  6. June – Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast
  7. July – Gardere Initiative
  8. August – Humanities Amped
  9. September – Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge / The Holy Grill
  10. October – Dialogue on Race
  11. November – VOTE: Voice of the Experienced
  12. December – Diversity House / Youth Oasis

Each of these organizations embodies a commitment to justice — whether through direct service, advocacy, education, community-building or compassionate care. By partnering with them, our congregation extended its reach far beyond our walls and helped amplify efforts that make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

Thank you to every member and friend of our church who contributed this year. Your generosity allowed us to live our values in visible, meaningful ways. As we look ahead to 2026, we carry this spirit of shared purpose forward, continuing the work of building beloved community together.

May the generosity we’ve shared this year ripple outward — strengthening our neighbors, uplifting our partners and weaving ever more tightly the fabric of justice we are called to help create.
