For many, the holidays and the start of a new year are times of joy and connection. But for others, they can bring sadness, stress, grief or unexpected challenges. At the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge, we want you to know: you are not alone, and support is available.
Pastoral Care: A Listening Ear When You Need It Most
Our Pastoral Care Associates are trained congregants who offer confidential support to anyone navigating difficulty, loss, transition or crisis. They work closely with our ministers to ensure you receive compassionate, attentive care. You can reach out to a minister or Pastoral Care Associate if:
- You’re facing illness or hospitalization
- A relationship is struggling
- You’ve experienced a loss or are grieving a death
- You need to talk about addiction, ethics, vocation or big life questions
Every Sunday, our Listening Room is also open after each service for anyone who needs a quiet space and someone to talk to. If you need support, email care@unitarianbr.org.
Congregational Care Team: Help with Practical Needs
When life becomes difficult, our Congregational Care Team offers hands-on assistance for congregants experiencing illness, surgery, recovery or bereavement. This team provides:
- Meals during illness or recovery
- Rides for those temporarily unable to drive
- Help with errands or simple tasks
- Hospital or home visits
- Pet care or grocery runs
- Sympathy and celebratory cards
- Support with memorial receptions
- Coordination of Sunday flower dedications
To request support or let us know someone needs help, email cct@unitarianbr.org. If you would like to donate Sunday flowers, contact the team at the same address or sign up at church.
