December at the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge is filled with joyful gatherings for all ages. From holiday field trips to candlelit services and community service projects, there’s something for everyone this month. Sunday, Dec. 14 – Field Trip! Creole Christmas and Holiday Fair (12:30–5 p.m.)
Join us for a festive outing to Magnolia Mound Historic House for the Creole Christmas and Holiday Fair. Enjoy songs in French and Spanish, period demonstrations, folk crafts, vendors and a bonfire to welcome Papa Noël. Those wishing to share a light lunch at the church may RSVP to education@unitarianbr.org for the 12:30 p.m. gathering before departing at 1:15 p.m. to arrive at the site by 2 p.m. Carpooling is encouraged.
Thursday, Dec. 18 – Winter Solstice (7 p.m.)

Sunday, Dec. 21 – Impromptu Christmas Pageant (9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.)

Wednesday, Dec. 24 – Candlelit Christmas Eve Services (5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.)
These annualservices feature beautiful music and the cherished tradition of youth retelling the Christmas story. Friday, Dec. 26–Sunday, Dec. 28 – Pet Pillow Palooza (daily 1–5 p.m.)
Give back this season by helping create pet beds for local animal shelters at Pet Pillow Palooza, offered daily from 1–5 p.m. All skill levels are welcome for cutting, stuffing, tracing and sewing. Open to ages 5 and up (with adult supervision for youth under 15). Please note: due to dust and fluff, this activity is not ideal for those with respiratory sensitivities. Additional workdays follow the next weekend: Jan. 2 (1–5 p.m.), Jan. 3 (9 a.m.–2 p.m.) and Jan. 4 (1–5 p.m.).
Sunday, Dec. 28 – Kwanzaa Services (9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.)
