December Events: Celebrations, Community and Connection for All

Sunday, Dec. 1

  • Family Potluck Lunch and Tree Trimming Party – 12:30-3 p.m. – Families of all ages and configurations are invited to share a potluck lunch after worship from 12:30-1 p.m. This will be followed by ornament making and tree decorating until 3 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 8

  • Compassionate Friends of Baton Rouge Memorial Candle Lighting Service – 6-8 p.m. – Gather in our Fellowship Hall for a memorial candle lighting service followed by a potluck dinner. The event is hosted by The Compassionate Friends – Baton Rouge Chapter and symbolizes compassionate support for each other by families grieving the loss of a child.

Wednesday, Dec. 11

  • Community Firepit Gathering – 6-8 p.m. – Need a social time to relax and connect with your community in this busy, stressful season? We’ve got you! Join us around the firepit for gourmet s’mores, laughter and camaraderie. Drop by after work or after choir. Stay as long as you’d like.

Saturday, Dec. 14

  • New Orleans Gay Men’s Chorus Winter Concert – 7:30 p.m. – The chorus returns for their annual holiday concert in our sanctuary. For more information or advance ticket purchases, visit www.nogmc.org

Sunday, Dec. 15

  • Winter Blood Drive – 8 a.m.-2 p.m. – Give the priceless gift of blood! Stop by the blood mobile in our parking lot to donate.

Friday, Dec. 20

  • Winter Solstice Service – 7 p.m. – Gather in the sanctuary for our annual winter solstice service to mark the longest night of the year.

Sunday, Dec. 22

  • Impromptu Christmas Pageant – 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. – Be a part of our pageant at either morning service. It’s a congregational retelling of the story of Jesus’ birth with costumes and casting done live and on the spot. 

Tuesday, Dec. 24

  • Christmas Eve Services – 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. – Two annual candlelit services with special music, readings and community.

Sunday, Dec. 29

  • Kwanzaa Services – 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. – Our annual Kwanzaa Services will be held.
