Oral History Presentation: April 22, 2-4 pm
The Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge has been part of the religious fabric of this city for more than 70 years. Please join congregational members and friends of the church as several longtime members share this rich and deep commitment to our Unitarian Universalist values and this beloved city. There will be beignets, treats, and beverages served before the presentation.
Welcome to Baton Rouge & Louisiana Reception: April 22, 5:45-7:45 pm
Did you say “gumbo?” On the eve of the installation, come and enjoy gumbo (vegan and otherwise), seafood dressing, and many other Baton Rouge or Louisiana “soul foods,” and mingle with members and friends of the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge. Please let us know if you’re planning to attend. There will be plenty of food!

Sunday Worship Services: April 23, 9 & 11:30 am
Dr. Janice Marie Johnson, the Co-Director of Ministries and Faith Development of the Unitarian Universalist Association, and longtime mentor, colleague, and friend of Rev. Chris, will offer the sermon in both worship services. Dr. Johnson will share of their two decades-long connections within the faith through the theme and title for the installation weekend, “Tilling the Soil: Fortifying the Promise of our Unitarian Universalist Faith.” These worship services will also include other mentors, colleagues, and friends who have known Rev. Chris throughout his journey as a Unitarian Universalist for 23 years. Please join us in person, or online for the 9:00 am service.
Sunday Installation Service: April 23, 3:54 pm
Join us for this special installation service for Rev, Chris Long, our Minister of Congregation Life. The Rev. Dr. Sofia Betancourt will preach on the title and theme for the installation service, “Tilling the Soil: Fortifying the Promise of our Unitarian Universalist Faith.” Rev. Betancourt serves as the Resident Scholar and Special Advisor on Justice and Equity at the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, and is the sole candidate for President of the Unitarian Universalist Association. Please let us know if you will be attending. We hope to see you there!
