When life becomes difficult, no one should have to face it alone.
That’s the mission of the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge’s Congregational Care Team (CCT). This dedicated group of volunteers provides practical support and compassionate care to members of our church community during times of illness, surgery, accidents, health crises and bereavement.
The team’s ministry takes many forms. They organize meal support, provide transportation for those temporarily unable to drive, coordinate visits, help with grocery shopping or pet care when needed, and oversee UCBR’s sympathy, congratulatory and holiday card ministries. They also coordinate sanctuary flower donations and receptions following memorial services. Along with our Branches groups, the Congregational Care Team serves as one of the first sources of care and support when members of our congregation need a helping hand.
If you’ve been looking for a meaningful way to care for others and strengthen our church community, now is a wonderful time to get involved.
The Congregational Care Team will hold a retreat on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m.–1 p.m., and current members as well as anyone interested in joining the team are invited to attend. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the ministry, meet team members and discover how your gifts and talents can help care for our congregation.
If you’d like more information or would like to attend the retreat, please email CCT@unitarianbr.org. We’d love to welcome you.
