Sometimes making a difference can be as simple as sitting down with friends, picking up a pen and writing a postcard.
Every Sunday in September at 12:30 p.m., the Social Justice Team’s VOTE subteam will gather in the Fellowship Hall to write postcards encouraging voter participation. This nonpartisan outreach focuses on reaching voters of color in Southern states, and everyone is welcome to help. No experience is necessary.
One recent participant summed up the experience perfectly:
“Glitter pens! Snacks! Chatter! Each postcard feels like an achievable action in the face of the hopelessness that our dystopian political process has felt like for me. Thanks for inviting me to hang out and feel useful!”
That’s really what these Sunday gatherings are about: good company, a concrete action and the satisfaction of doing something useful together.
Stop by at 12:30 p.m. any Sunday in September and join us. We’ll provide what you need.
