Sept. 9: Three Special Opportunities on One Sunday

Mark your calendars, because Sunday, Aug. 9, will be a wonderful day to be at the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge. From worship to fellowship to opportunities for connection and service, there will be something for everyone.

Ingathering and Bag Blessing

Join us for worship at 9 or 11:30 a.m. as we celebrate the beginning of a new church year with our annual Ingathering and Bag Blessing. Students are invited to bring their backpacks to be blessed as they prepare for the school year, but this tradition isn’t just for children. People of all ages are encouraged to participate by bringing whatever items help them navigate their daily lives and work. Purses, briefcases, laptops, phones, lunch bags, tool bags and more are all welcome. Whatever gets you through each day.

Can’t join us in person? You can watch our 9 a.m. service online and participate in the hosted chat on our YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/@UnitarianBR.

Connections Fair

After both services, be sure to stop by our annual Connections Fair. Representatives from many of our volunteer teams will be available to answer questions, share information about their work and help you discover opportunities to become more involved in the life of the congregation. Whether you’re interested in social justice work, religious education, music, hospitality, communications or something else entirely, there’s a place for you here.

Bring a Friend Sunday

What better day to invite someone to visit UCBR? Bring a Friend Sunday is the perfect opportunity to introduce friends, family members, neighbors and coworkers to our community. If someone has been curious about who we are or what we believe, this is an ideal time to extend an invitation.

We look forward to welcoming both familiar faces and first-time visitors as we begin another year together. Bring your bag, bring your curiosity and, if you’d like, bring a friend along, too.
