Summer is in full swing, and July offers several wonderful opportunities to connect, serve and help shape the future of the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge. Whether you’d like to sing, support civic engagement or learn more about our strategic planning process, we hope you’ll join us!
Gospel Choir Rehearsals: Saturdays through Aug. 1, 10 a.m.–Noon (No rehearsal on July 4)
Have you ever wanted to sing with a gospel choir? Here’s your chance! Everyone is invited to join our annual summer Gospel Choir, led by church member Jared Robinson. This year’s music includes a mix of classic and contemporary gospel songs, and no previous choir experience is necessary. The choir will share its music during our Gospel Service at 9 and 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2.
Postcard-Writing Campaign with Reclaim Our Vote: Sunday, July 19, 1–3 p.m.
Join the Social Justice Team’s VOTE subteam in the Fellowship Hall for an afternoon of postcard writing as part of Reclaim Our Vote, a national nonpartisan voter outreach effort. No experience is needed — just bring your willingness to help strengthen civic engagement. Everyone is welcome.
Strategic Planning Informational Meetings: Wednesday, July 22 • Saturday, July 25 • Sunday, July 26
As our congregation prepares for the Aug. 2 Congregational Meeting to vote on the proposed strategic plan, the Strategic Planning Steering Committee will host several informational meetings to answer questions and explain the proposed priorities. Meetings will be offered both in person and on Zoom so everyone has an opportunity to participate. For the Zoom link, see the dated event in the website calendar.
