Join other parents for a deeper discussion. … Faith in Exploration – Room 6 – Try out a Branches Samper – your opportunity to see what it’s like to attend a Branches Small Ministries session if you are interested in joining a group long-term. … Faith in Action – Room 7 – This is always for our Social Justice Team and its subteams that focus on voting, reproductive justice and climate. Drop in any week.


Classes for all ages are held 10:15-11:15 a.m. every Sunday. Children and youth can gather for UU-based lessons and activities. Adults are invited to look for these three options: Faith in Action (social justice activities), Faith in Exploration (learn about Unitarian Universalism) and Faith in Practice (discuss spiritual practices of all kinds).

Meditation Class – Blue Lotus Meditation Center offers three weekly meditation sessions. … IN PERSON: Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 5 p.m. … ON ZOOM: Wednesdays at 7 p.m. (Click the individual date entries on our site calendar for Zoom link.) Bring mats or floor pillows.

  • Firepit Gathering – 6-8 p.m. – Need a social time to relax and connect with your community in this busy, stressful time? We’ve got you! Join us around the firepit for gourmet s’mores, laughter and camaraderie. Drop by after work or after choir. Stay as long as you’d like.

  • MIDDLE HOUR: PSTT – Parent Support in Tumultuous Times – 10:15 a.m.  – Meet with other parents to discuss out to parent in a world that feels overwhelming (Every Sunday in August + September)
  • MIDDLE HOUR: Branches Sampler – 10:15 a.m. – Enjoy a sample-sized version of Branches, our small-group ministry program, to decide if you’d like to join one of the groups. (Also: Aug. 31)
  • MIDDLE HOUR: Social Justice-Reproductive Justice Subteam – 10:15 a.m.  – Discuss concerns about reproductive justice and what we can do to improve access for those in need. (Also: Sept. 28, Nov. 2, Dec. 7)
  • TransUU: Living and Loving Others Amid the Gender Spectrum – 1-2:30 p.m. – Fourth Sunday of the month – Join others for a discussion and relationship-building group for those with loved ones who are transgender, nonbinary or gender nonconforming.   • 20th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina-A Service of Remembrance, Thanksgiving and Hope – Noon at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church –The Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge will mark the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina with this special service. You are invited to join the journey and celebrate the ways Greater Baton Rouge worked to support neighbors in need.

Sunday, Aug. 31

  • Sixth Source Sharing Circle – 1-2 p.m. – Second Sunday, January to September – UU Pagans discuss their unique path. The group is dedicated to the UU principles and exploring their place in the natural world and their relationship with the gods.
  • Sri Lankan Food Festival – 4-7 p.m. – A fundraiser for the Blue Lotus Meditation Center who hosts meditation at our church twice each week. This family-friendly, buffet-style dinner invites everyone to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan cuisine.
