THIS COMING WEEKEND! Saturday, Aug. 2 is the return of our annual auction – the event that puts the FUN in fundraising. You’re encouraged to dress for the theme of “Back to the FUUture” – from the movie, from the past, from the future, or just as you are. Tickets available at the door. … Sunday, Aug. 3 at the 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. services, we’ll celebrate with our annual Gospel Service. Hear the fantastic UU gospel choir under the direction of Jared Robinson.
SUNDAY MIDDLE HOUR
Classes for all ages are held 10:15-11:15 a.m. every Sunday. Children and youth can gather for UU-based lessons and activities. Adults are invited to look for these three options: Faith in Action (social justice activities), Faith in Exploration (learn about Unitarian Universalism) and Faith in Practice (discuss spiritual practices of all kinds).

Meditation Class – Blue Lotus Meditation Center offers three weekly meditation sessions. … IN PERSON: Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 5 p.m. … ON ZOOM: Wednesdays at 7 p.m. (Click the individual date entries on our site calendar for Zoom link.) Bring mats or floor pillows.

Saturday, Aug. 2
- Gospel Choir Practice – 10 a.m.-12 p.m. – Saturdays through Aug. 2 – Our annual gospel services will be returning on August 3! No experience needed, only a willingness to learn and have fun! RSVP not required, but helpful: music.office@unitarianbr.org

- Annual Gospel Service – 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. – Come hear our gospel choir led by the fabulous Jared Robinson and featuring gospel music from classic to contemporary. The 9 a.m. service will live stream at www.youtube.com/@UnitarianBR
- MIDDLE HOUR: Social Justice-Climate Action Subteam – 10:15 a.m. – Share concerns and work toward putting our faith into action. All perspectives about climate are welcome – whatever your level of awareness or acceptance. (Also: Sept. 7, Oct. 12, Nov. 23, Dec. 28)
- MIDDLE HOUR: Minister Meet & Greet – 10:15 a.m. – Sit down with one of our ministers for a casual get-to-know-you chat, a deep discussion on theology, or any topic you’d like! (Also: Sept. 7)
- MIDDLE HOUR: PSTT – Parent Support in Tumultuous Times – 10:15 a.m. – Meet with other parents to discuss out to parent in a world that feels overwhelming (Every Sunday in August)
- Gen ZUU – 1 p.m. – First Sunday of the Month – Join other Gen Z adults for lunch and fellowship. This month’s location is Panera Bread on Jefferson. Email ucbrgenzuu@gmail.com for info.

- Black Joy Collective – 6:30 p.m. – First Tuesday of the month – A supportive gathering space for Black members of UCBR. Our discussions provide an opportunity for sharing, learning, understanding, growing and becoming. Contact ucbrblack@gmail.com.

- Retirement Support Group – 10 a.m. – First Thursday of the month – Most meetings are at La Madeleine on Jefferson Highway.
Saturday, Aug. 9
- Community Drum Circle – 5-6:30 p.m. – Gather, Move, Make Noise! Join the monthly circle near our Peace Stones each full moon weekend. (Also: Sept. 7, Oct. 5, Nov. 8, Dec. 6)
Sunday, Aug. 10
- Annual Ingathering and Bag Blessing – 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. – Celebrate the start of a new church year with our annual ingathering and bag blessing for ALL ages. Not only can students get their backpacks blessed to start the new school year, but everyone can join in the blessing – purses, phones, laptop bags – you name it. Whatever you need to be productive in the coming year.
- Connections Fair – before/after both services – Find your passion! Visit with representatives of our volunteer teams and get involved in your church. This is your opportunity to mingle with team leaders and find the right fit for yourself in our shared ministry.
- Sixth Source Sharing Circle – 1-2 p.m. – Second Sunday, January to September – UU Pagans discuss their unique path. The group is dedicated to the UU principles and exploring their place in the natural world and their relationship with the gods.

Sunday, Aug. 17
- MIDDLE HOUR: Social Justice Team – Third Sunday of the month – 10:15 a.m. – Gather during Middle Hour to discuss the team’s latest activities and updates from focus groups.
- MIDDLE HOUR: Branches Sampler – 10:15 a.m. – Enjoy a sample-sized version of Branches, our small-group ministry program, to decide if you’d like to join one of the groups. (Also: Aug. 24 and 31)
Wednesday, Aug. 20
- Firepit Gathering – 6-8 p.m. – Need a social time to relax and connect with your community in this busy, stressful time? We’ve got you! Join us around the firepit for gourmet s’mores, laughter and camaraderie. Drop by after work or after choir. Stay as long as you’d like.

- MIDDLE HOUR: Social Justice-Reproductive Justice Subteam – 10:15 a.m. – Discuss concerns about reproductive justice and what we can do to improve access for those in need. (Also: Sept. 28, Nov. 2, Dec. 7)
- TransUU: Living and Loving Others Amid the Gender Spectrum – 1-2:30 p.m. – Fourth Sunday of the month – Join others for a discussion and relationship-building group for those with loved ones who are transgender, nonbinary or gender nonconforming. - Congregational Care Team – 6:30 p.m. – Second Tuesday/Odd Months – The CCT meets at church and via Zoom to provide care to people in the church community who are in crisis. (Also: Nov. 11)
